The Transponder-Module (XPNDR)
The Transponder is a device which helps air traffic controllers to identify the aircraft on their radar and to maintain separation. Generally speaking, each aircraft flying under controlled Instrumental Flight Rules (IFR) gets it's own Transponder- or "Squawk-Code". With the transponder sending this certain code all the time, the aircraft is unequivocally identifiable on the controller's radar screen. There are different Types of Transponers - e.g. "Mode A"-Devices only send the squawk-code, while "Mode C"-capable Transponders also send Altitude Information. There are also "Mode S"-Transponders, which are mandatory in controlled airspace in many countries. They also allow automatic collision avoidance. Our Sim-Module-XPNDR can simulate all different kinds of Transponders, depending on the actual Flight Simultator aircraft.
