The TONBURG HELISIM

The first simulator project, which really uses the SIM-MODULES 'in the field' so to speak, is the TONBURG Bell 206B-Sim by Herwig Burghard (www.tonburg.at).

Herwig has been working on this simulator for some years now, and for sure this is one of the greatest, most impressive home flight simulator projects one can think of.

Thousends of hours were spent to precisely reproduce the cockpit of a Bell helicopter in every detail, so that even real pilots are impressed.

And the best thing: it's located here in Graz :-)

-> it is full motion. And I really mean FULL motion - the whole platform is moved by an innovativ, very tricky pneumatic system, which really gives the perfect feeling of flying an helicopter - I can't describe it, it's just insane :-)

-> the outside visuals are produced by an old cinema-beamer and are thrown onto a 4 times 5 metres screen with a resolution of 1600x1200 - also perfect for car racing or other games :-)

-> The whole thing is driven by probably the best personal computer one can buy these days - an Intel QX 6700 (4x3,2Ghz overclocked) processor, 4GB RAM, 1.3TB hard disk and 2x8800GTX (SLI) graphic cards... who said there is no PC where FSX does NOT lag? ;-)
